Assignment 1

Besvar både opgave a. og b. nedenfor. Brug relevant grammatisk terminologi. Skriv dine svar på dansk.
  1. Find og skriv fra teksten fem verballed i simpel tid og fem verballed i udvidet tid. Skriv for hvert eksempel hele verballeddet, og skriv for hvert verballed, hvilken tid det står i.

I could hear them out in the kitchen. I couldn’t hear what they were saying, but they were arguing.
Then it got quiet and she started to cry. I elbowed George. I thought he would wake up and say
something to them so they would feel guilty and stop. But George is such an asshole. He started
 3

kicking and hollering.
“Stop gouging me, you bastard,” he said. [...]
“You dumb chickenshit,” I said. “Can’t you wise up for once? They’re fighting and Mom’s crying.
 6

Listen.”
He listened with his head off the pillow. “I don’t care,” he said and turned over toward the wall
and went back to sleep. George is a royal asshole.
 9

Later I heard Dad leave to catch his bus. He slammed the front door. She had told me before
he wanted to tear up the family. I didn’t want to listen.
After a while she came to call us for school. Her voice sounded funny – I don’t know. I said I felt
 12

sick at my stomach. It was the first week in October and I hadn’t missed any school yet, so what
could she say? She looked at me, but it was like she was thinking of something else.

38 years and 148 lashes for defending women’s rights
38 years. 148 lashes. That’s the price for defending women’s rights in Iran. Nasrin Sotoudeh,
human rights lawyer and mother of two, has recently received this sentence. She defended a group
 3

of women peacefully protesting the law which forces them to wear the hijab in public. For this she
was accused of spreading propaganda and insulting Iran’s supreme leader.
It’s not the first time Nasrin has been targeted. In 2010 she was sentenced to six years in prison.
 6

But when thousands of people like you stood up to demand her freedom, she was released.
Nasrin is now in Evin prison in Tehran, notorious for mistreating and torturing its inmates. She
shouldn’t spend another day in prison. She should be free to return to her children and her work.
 9

With your support, we can help free Nasrin again and reunite her with her family.

What you can do
Give a gift today of £5 to Amnesty International UK Section Charitable Trust. With your support,
 12

we could put pressure on the Iranian government to free Nasrin, and others like her who have been
locked up
for protecting human rights.

Amnesty International, 2019
